AMP Ads Coming to Google AdWords

As part of Google’s growing obsession with speeding up the internet, they announced this week that Adwords advertisers can now take advantage of their AMP product for their search and display ads.

In Google search, advertisers will now be able to use AMP pages in lieu of traditional landing pages, increasing page load time, and thus creating a better experience for users on mobile devices. The company also announced that they will be converting traditional display banner ads to AMP banner ads, which the company says can load up to 5x faster than their predecessor.

Even if you’re unfamiliar with AMP pages, you’ve likely seen them near the top of Google’s organic rankings on mobile devices. The pages require some unique markup to create, but are favored in Google’s results, and can create much better experiences for users who are directed to them instead of traditional landing pages.
